How do you transform a physical warehouse into a digital one and “teleport” spare parts wherever they are needed? In this third episode of INT News, Sandeep Lacorte interviews William Cappabianca, CEO of Sidustech, the Italian company that is rewriting the rules of logistics through Additive Manufacturing.
In today’s industrial landscape, speed of supply and the reduction of warehousing costs are no longer just competitive advantages, but true necessities for survival. This is where Sidustech comes into play, an innovative reality promising to transform the industry into a Supply Chain a chilometro zero.
In this exclusive interview, we discover the human face behind the technology and the vision driving this epochal change.
From “Nerd” Soul to Tech Entrepreneurship
Who is William Cappabianca? A self-described “fake youth” of 44, a father, and proudly a “nerd.” It is precisely this visceral passion for technology—born between video games and manga—that drove William to found Sidustech.
“Doing something you like means you don’t count the hours,” William recounts in the interview.
His transition towards 3D printing (or Additive Manufacturing) was not random but born from a concrete need encountered during his past work experiences abroad (Middle East, Africa): the logistical difficulty of obtaining spare parts quickly.
The Problem: Traditional Logistics is Slow
During the interview, a sore point of the current market is touched upon: the invasion of foreign products (such as Chinese cars) that are price-competitive but lacking in after-sales support. How can you guarantee a rapid replacement if the part has to travel from the other side of the world? Warehouse costs and the risk of obsolescence are silent enemies that erode company margins.
The Solution: “Teleporting” Spare Parts with SpareNow
The heart of Sidustech’s innovation lies in the concept of production delocalization. January 26, 2026, marks a key date for the company with the launch of the SpareNow portal.
The idea is visionary yet concrete: instead of shipping a physical part, you ship a file. The spare part is produced on-site, only when needed and where needed.
- No Stockpiling: Elimination of warehouse costs.
- No Physical Shipping: Reduction of environmental impact and lead times.
- Eternal Availability: A digital file never goes out of production.
William uses a powerful metaphor in the video: “It’s like considering teleportation.” If a component can be replicated with the same quality in Milan as in Tokyo in just a few hours, traditional logistics are bypassed.
Overcoming Cultural Resistance to 3D Printing
One of the biggest obstacles Sidustech faced was skepticism. Many companies, burned by the limitations of first-generation stampanti 3D (slow and imprecise), struggle to understand current technological evolution.
Today, industrial Additive Manufacturing guarantees performance and reliability, provided that—as William explains with the “cooking” metaphor—the component is engineered specifically for this technology and not simply copied from injection molding methods.
