Premise
The regeneration of the former Santa Maria di Seregno clinic is born from the desire to redevelop an area into a creative hub, strongly characterized by continuous and synergistic exchange between the world of work and that of training.
It is a great opportunity to transform the public heritage into a concrete and enabling resource for the City of Seregno with the active contribution of association and companies, promoting a new urban welfare towards new forms of entrepreneurship ranging from continuing training to manufacturing 4.0, culture, to new forms of shared work.
The project of the new Innovation Pole proposes a precise programmatic mix between the world of higher education and enterprises, promoting activities that appear decisive in the economic development of the territory and beyond, but also because of the social function which these are able to play in the wider design of a city and for an increasingly competitive productive fabric, attentive to the changes taking place.
Project
Creation of a highly innovative technological training pole with spaces dedicated to training, classrooms, services for companies, laboratories, co-working and start-up spacesup, in order to respond to the demands that the great global changes place on the world of business training to include in their development strategies courses aimed at advanced informatization, green and innovation.
The project involves the construction of 3,835 square meters of built area, arranged on a total of 4 levels and an integrated parking.
The training area of about 2,000 square meters of built surface, divided into spaces for frontal teaching (classrooms, common areas, meeting rooms and services for a total of 1,500 square meters) and laboratories (500 square meters) and dedicated to host the ITS Academy multi-line campus.
The Innovation area of about 1,000 square meters of built surface will be affected by two main destinations: an area composed of smart areas and incubators, coworking and an innovation hub.
In addition, it is planned to build an area dedicated to the Open Services, which include a smart cafe/ restaurant and cultural spaces.
Objectives
Invest in the ITS Academy as a concrete response to the needs of technical expertise for the competitiveness of the territory and the country system, also offering spaces for companies for innovation, facilitating the interaction between training, innovation and business development.
To strengthen the cross-disciplinary view, encourage the contamination between technological areas, make it possible to exchange experiences between students and trainers, and innovate paths.
Train expert professionals. ITS are born to train qualified professionals, experts in technology, who combine technical and technological specialization with cultural knowledge, social commitment, scientific comparison and humanistic passion.
Make ITS a real centre for innovation, research and technology transfer. The identification of a common site for several ITS makes it possible to combine resources, which would not allow a major achievement if used individually, and to multiply areas of redundancy, so that higher education institutions become innovation poles, Places where research on technological and market trends is concentrated, and where applied research can be developed. The presence of shared 4.0 technology laboratories is essential and central in this sense. In addition, the role of ITS in technology transfer processes could be one of the desirable scenarios for development. The ITS could in fact play a role as an INNOVATION HUB of the network to which they belong, made up of companies, young people, universities, representative associations, research institutions and public administration.
To promote the attractiveness of the territory as a place where to do business by hosting, in a venue generally devoted to the integration between training and experimentation, business incubation activities, Co-working places and business networks capable of promoting business development in terms of innovation in the production system; with a final result of relaunching the vocation of the territory as a place that offers opportunities both on the side of work and on the side of doing business, and that makes the integration between these two aspects its own characteristic, Focusing on an integration projected to innovation and therefore able to interpret this need not only in the present but also in the future.
ITS involved
Angelo Rizzoli ITS Academy Foundation
Starting from the experience of the Graphic Training Center and established in 2010 in ITS Foundation, since 2014, in 2011 as x graphic training center, since 2014 has started with the entry of new partners training courses within the ICT and Smart Manufacturing sector (Industry 4.0) operating in the area of information and communication technology.
The experience gained by the ITS Academy Angelo Rizzoli Foundation, the growing demand for highly specialized output profiles from companies and the interest in the activation of a higher technological education offer expressed by the municipality, the associations, training agencies and local schools have set the conditions for the opening of a new operating office in Seregno, aimed at the implementation of post-diploma courses for tertiary education.
The ITS Rizzoli has therefore activated, in the spaces initially made available at the Martino Bassi Institute and then at the Vignoli Museum:
- an ITS Cloud & Data Security Specialist path starting in October 2021,
- 1st and 2nd year ITS Cloud & Data Security Specialist and 1st year ITS Cyber Defence Specialist, starting in October 2022
- 2nd year ITS Cloud & Data Security Specialist, 1st and 2nd year ITS Cyber Defence Specialist and 1st year ITS Software Architect Specialist from October 2023
Aims to bring three stable, first and second year ITS biennial routes into the future pole:
- ITS Cyber Defence Specialist
- ITS Network and Cloud Specialist
- ITS Software Architect Specialist
ITS Lombardia Meccatronica
Established in 2014, the Foundation has taken care of the consolidation of its network, being able to count today on more than 500 partner companies (120 of which are partners), increasing the number of regional offices, reaching 7 in as many provinces of Lombardy (Bergamo, Brescia, Como, Lecco, Milan, Pavia and Varese), but with a garrison that in fact affects at least 10 provinces of Lombardy, if we also count those of Lodi, Sondrio, Monza and Brianza. Over time, the analysis of the need for skilled skills has led to a progressive diversification of the post-diploma courses offered, affecting both the curves of the occupational figures coming out (with pathways in three directions, industrial, biomedical and transport), both the EQF level of skills acquired (distinguishing mainly technical maintenance figures trained with IFTS paths, from figures with tasks also project-management trained with ITS paths)

Innova Professioni ITS Academy
The ITS Academy Innova Professioni Foundation, constituted in Participation Foundation, was born in 2014 from the experience of Capac Polytechnic of Commerce and Tourism, which involved a first set of training institutions, companies, schools, institutions, the Metropolitan city of Milan to implement post-diploma ITS courses in the Technological Area Tourism and cultural activities. The reference secondary school is the Artemisia Gentileschi Institute of Milan, language high school and tourist institute and the participating university is the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. In the ten years of activity of Innova Professioni, numerous entrepreneurial, educational and training organisations have gradually joined. At present, almost all the training institutions in Lombardy are represented in Innova Professioni, according to the logic of a valorization of the excellences that each training institution can contribute to the strategic design of the Academy. Important business associations have joined the ITS Academy.
In the year of training 2023/2024, Innovaprofessioni has conducted the following ITS courses:
- Hotel Manager (in two editions)
- Cultural manager
- Manager of major events
- Senior goldsmith
Also in function of the evolution of the system of local economic system and the labor market, Innova Professioni considers two hypotheses on the Seregno Campus for the realization of a path between the following two:
- Course ITS Manager of events and the valorization of the territory, in the Technological Area Tourism and cultural activities;
- Course ITS Office manager, in the perspective currently being evaluated to expand the activity of the ITS Academy in the Technological Area Business Services.
ITS Green Academy
The infection of ITS Green Academy is to consolidate in this territory an operating site that can provide an innovative technological higher education, as capable of bringing together different skills such as Green and digital skills essential to support the Green and digital transition. The subject of the collaboration will be a course ITS completely innovative and constituted by the integration of specific skills in the world ICT represented by ITS Rizzoli and those of the world Energy and Environment represented by ITS Green. The topics on which the course will be designed will be such as to constitute the ideal training path of the senior technician specialist in ICT & sustainability.
